Greece accommodation - Nea Vrasna
Vrasna is a summer resort situated at about 70 km away from Thessaloniki and Kavala, between Asprovalta and Stavros, connected to both towns by a wide sandy beach – a winner of the Blue Flag award granted by the EU and Mediterranean – and a lovely flagstone promenade by the Gulf. Vrasna has a panoramic view of the Aegean Sea, and an up close and clear view of the Strymonian Gulf. There are two international airports nearby: Macedonia International Airport in Thessaloniki and Alexander the Great International Airport in Kavala, both at about 40 minute drive from Vrasna.
Vrasna, together with Stavros and Asprovalta, belongs to the municipality of Saint George in the Macedonian Tempi Valley (also known as the Rentina Valley) cut by the Rihious River flowing into the Gulf. These towns were built in almost the same style, and are different from other tourist destinations in Greece. Wide beaches, luscious greenery, ancient cites and modern communities are some of the features of the Strymonian region. What makes this area special is also the vicinity of Ouranoupoli, the Mount of Athos, the ancient city of Stagira, the town of Amphipolis and its museum and the cave of Alistrati witness life in this area back in the Paleolithic Age.
